I am reminded of this editorial from two days after. I am still looking for a quote from the Tribune, early on, while all were being charged with identical crimes, and with identical absurdly high bonds, and their mugshots posted montage style with the effect to further enforce the belief all were guilty and equally culpable, cautioning its readers that many arrested may not have committed any crime at all.
Who was it that was ready to categorize, stereotype and jump to conclusions, facts notwithstanding?

“However, those who quip that we have returned to our Six Shooter Junction frontier days and that we now labor under a cloud that will be slow in dissipating ignore the fact that most of those who caused Sundays trouble were not local, that law enforcement was ready for them and that the episode is an isolated one, not part of some sorry trend or lamentable era.
Some will judge us forevermore based on this episode. Too many Americans, possibly because of their work-a-day worlds and their prejudices, stand ready to categorize, stereotype and jump to conclusions, facts notwithstanding.”
