We were in Atlanta about a month ago, going to the WWII plane and veterans’ gathering at the Peachtree Dekalb Airport north of downtown. We made reservations at a Hampton Inn, and on the way there from the gathering location to the hotel, we passed a halal market and as we got closer to the airport, saw burkas, etc. We did stay at the hotel but my goodness, that part of town made me feel uncomfortable -lots of burkas among the other hotel guests. Does that sound … xenophobic? Maybe, but I was thinking about what England and Sweden are like now.

There are alot of hijabs where I work now. Amazing women are allowed to do academics.

I like many of these people personally but I will always remain wary.
