The Big Broadcast is a Sunday night tradition for families throughout the WAMU listening area. Each week, Big Broadcast host Ed Walker offers listeners priceless recordings of popular radio programs from the '30s, '40s and '50s. Priceless, especially, for a man whose first sentence as a child was, 'Turn the radio on.'

Thanks, Vision, and hello to everyone.
I still get teary-eyed each time I think about Ed. Vision, thanks for posting that e-mail address. I wrote to him. It’s still hard to imagine Sunday nights without him.

Oh, all’s well here, Vision. It’s a mild, coolish day, sunny, but we still need rain. We’re under a burn ban, but we still have our fire bowl fires in the back yard.
How about you? Any news?

It's cold here! Was 33f this morning. Just finished a scooter ride and froze my giblets off.
All is ok. My beater car's service engine soon light came on so I'll deal with that this week. Am looking forward to the baseball payoffs, reheating some food wishes lemon chicken for dinner...

HAHAHAHAHA!!! You’re FROZEN—giblets! :-)
I envy that you’re making Chef John’s recipes. I want to make so many of them but have only done a couple or few.
We’re going to crank up our fire bowl in the back yard, even though it’s not nearly as cool here as it is cold there.

Yea, Rob. Wish I could hear the guy who started the BB; I thought it was Ed.
That JD had the worst ending. Jeesh, maybe the writer had a hot date and just gave up...

HA! A hot date. Yeah, well, deadlines and all...
I’m sorry about this guy. Whoever they find to replace Ed will still not be able to rate—we just know.

Keith and I were just talking about the show, and Keith said that Rob has to be broken up over Ed. That has to be true. I’m sure he greatly admires Ed, and this is likely a very difficult show for him to do. Again, bless his heart, and bless Ed’s heart, too.

Yes, that was excellent. This is so sad for us. We are going to tune out and find Sunday Night Football.
