They have a form of body dismorphic syndrome (I think it's called). In other forms people want to lose limbs or vital organs like their eyes to feel "normal". They are rightly considered disturbed and people who need help to overcome this. But if it's their sexual organs they are clebrated and enabled.

If people with mental issues are denied proper counseling and instead are encouraged, should we be surprised that it often spirals out of control?

The question is this — Do they commit suicide DESPITE their gender reassignment procedure or do they commit suicide because they CANNOT get the reassignment?

Why do I ask? because if it is the former, then Bruce Jenner has a high probability of killing himself.
