CLEMSON, SC (WIS) - Vice President Joe Biden, who touts himself as Washington’s optimist, delivered an uncharacteristically stern speech on sexual assault to a packed gym of Clemson University students Tuesday morning.
'Sexual assault isnt about sex,' Biden said, 'Its about power.'
Biden delivered his 30-minute address at Clemson on the first stop of his It’s On Us tour. The program raises awareness against sexual assault on college campuses, a portion of the United States that Biden says has fallen behind in the fight against rape and domestic violence.
'No means no,' Biden said. 'There are no exceptions.'
Biden, who introduced the Violence Against Women Act in 1990 while serving in the Senate, called on two main actions to fight sexual assault on college campuses: hold universities accountable to prevent assaults and bring men into the conversation.
