So...as I sit here on FR, I am eating the last Twinkie, that was in the freezer before Hostess went bankrupt and closed.
I haven't tried them since they came back, so I don't know what the new ones are like.

You’ve had a Twinkie in your freezer for around 2 years?

I tried the Hostess Pies when they came back.
Absolutely dreadful-——and nothing like the old ones.
The old, original cherry pies were my secret vice for a while.

You should have put it up on eBay.
Some fool probably would have given you $100 bucks or more for it.

For one thing, everything they came back with is 25% smaller at the same price. Go with Little Debbies or Mrs Freshleys

That would make a great title for a film about the eventual demise of liberalism.

I think the little tiny powdered sugar donuts have also changed a bit, but it’s been so long since I had the old ones my taste buds may have just changed.

I don’t agree the new Hostess products are as good as the old ones, but they aren’t bad.

I still love the Hostess choc cupcakes with the cream.
I don’t get Twinkies.
Never actually witnessed anyone eating one. Never heard anyone actually wax poetic about them. (Only this year via ‘net do I see some - including those I know - claiming they like them.)
Don’t like them.

Actually, I think most of their snack cakes taste somewhat different now. And not for the better, at least the ones I’ve tried. They might be using a new formula.

I haven't tried them since they came back, so I don't know what the new ones are like.
All of the cakes are smaller. The SusieQs, which were the last ones back, were especially AWFUL. MUCH smaller, squared off corners, and half the "creme".
The blueberry pies, which had been discontinued before the Hostess failure, remain MIA. The orange cupcakes were smaller, had a slightly drier texture, but the frosting was dead on, and remained tolerable. The Ding Dongs (Big Wheels, King Dons) were dry and "mealy". (Ring Ding Jr.s were always better anyway). The Raspberry Zingers were smaller and a touch drier but otherwise OK.
I don't know if the resuscitated Drakes cakes are any better (the Funny Bones went downhill even before the end). Right now I find that Tastykake makes the best pies where I am (Georgia, no Drakes here). It's just as well, as I am due to go back on my low-carb diet.

Never liked Twinkies. I always liked the Chocolate Cupcakes, and the Ho-Ho’s better. We had a Hostess factory around the corner from us when I was a kid (50’s). I haven’t noticed any difference in the new ones, except for the size, which has changed in just about everything. Dunkin’ donuts used to be bigger too, but they shrunk them as well.

I was a Hostess “Ding-Dong-a-holic”. Then the bankruptcy happened which gave impetus to better eating habits for me. The ding dong hiatus was just what I needed go more “nutritious.” I am so glad I changed my ways!
