Mergers invariably and often result in redundancies and of course, layoffs.

This is to avoid insane U.S. corporate taxes. Corporate HQ moves to Ireland, most operations remain fixed. Burger King bought Tim Horton’s and promptly moved its corporate HQ to Canada. Get it? New York started this trend in the 1960’s. Prior to 1960 the Corporate HQ of almost all Fortune 50 companies were in NYC, as well as most Fortune 500. Today, few remain. America 2010’s is New York City 1960’s: driving out businesses and welcoming free loaders and tax eaters, guaranteeing the Democrats a locked in majority as the host organism dies.
