So they'll be blaming Snowden for this since the authorities failed to monitor Farook's social network?

Who else do we know who made a trip to Pakistan? Hint: he’s been terrorizing Americans since 2008.

Well the NSA captures all cell phone traffic, right?

Or is that only for law-abiding US citizens...

As computer software programmer I can tell you this. It is a ‘needle in a haystack’ problem.

And the bigger you make the haystack, the harder it is to find the needle.

Gather ALL info, as it is claimed the NSA is doing (THANK YOU SNOWDEN!!) they are making a very big haystack.

And the most useful thing about this only happens after the fact. Once you find a needle it is easy to look at things related to where you found it.

Now that they know who he is they MAY be able to go back and search the data for his relations.

But this is the only way this much information is usedful- after the fact.

There is a huge downside though. You spend a ton of resources building this haystack, that has very little use until after the fact.

It is also able to be used in nefarious ways. Critical of Obama or idiot democrats in general? Let’s have a look see at what you’ve been doing online...

“....but there were several red flags in Farook’s past - including the suspicious trip to Pakistan, a nation ranked fourth on the Global Terrorism Index. Only Nigeria, Afghanistan and Iraq are ranked higher.”

For WHAT exactly are US national security personnel paid?

Victims of the attack ought to bring a class action suit against the morons who are SUPPOSED to bird-dog this stuff and DIDN'T!

That’s not a social network. It’s a C3I node.
