Why?
If Texas secedes that does not automatically mean a person in Texas is no longer a citizen of the USA. Nor if a person moves to Texas does one have to give up their citizenship.
I suspect that if Texas goes, a lot of others will quickly join it in a new CSA.
This will be something of a disaster all around, at least in the short term.
Ex patriots and immigrants that worked in U.S. can collect SS and pensions.
All of those things can be solved, specially if its a multi-state secession.
Simply put the state will acquire all Federal Assets AND Liabilities, such as pensions and Medicare. It will also acquire sovereign taxing powers.
Other freedom loving people are hoping Texas actually goes through with this.
January 6th at 10 a.m. at the steps of the state capital in Sacramento supporters of the State of Jefferson will be gathering. The northern part of CA is sick and tired of our lack of representation in Sacramento. IMO, the northern part of the state will break off and dare the feds to stop them when the govt has finally overreached and it can no longer be ignored.
I know. I was quoting someone else. Thanks
everyone will be moving to Texas if Texas secede because the rest of US will be a basket case with Democrat controlling everything
LOL...maybe not. We’ll have immigration quotas...that we’ll actually enforce ;^)
I used to drive to Oregon from CA and I actually took a picture of the sign advertising the State of Jefferson. The people of far Northern CA and far southern Oregon are not represented by their current state governments. I would have moved there in a heartbeat, but I got tired of waiting and moved to Texas, and signed the petition to put succession on the ballot.
“So treason is on the ballot in Texas?”
Nope, its on display in DC. Fidelity to the constitution might mean preserving an enclave of freedom. Treason would be to let DC have power over decent people.
Sorry, maybe someone else will read it that doesn’t know.
LOL. Are you kidding me?
Good answer!
Texas could lead the way in calling a constitutional convention. There the over reach of the federal leviathan.
Unfortunately for me I am too old; I do not have years remaining to see this to fruition.
I thought the civil war settled it. They want another ass kicking or what. And why is the republican party taking this historical demonrat position?
Nothing is ever permanently settled in this world.
The Texas charter to join the United States specifically states they can secede when/if they choose. It was ratified by both parties. Nothing illegal or treasonous.
Instead of states trying to go it alone, I’d like to see all states join and get rid of the cancer in the WH
Treason? I don’t think you know what the word means.
You must be joking? Nobody with any intelligence would say that seriously.
