This was the list of states that had reciprocity agreements with Virginia. Other than West Virginia 25 of these will no longer be in this list.
This will affect the ability of Virginians to carry across state lines in those states as well. But Virginia is an open carry state, so couldn’t you still do that regardless?
What are they going to do, have border stops between NC and VA, where people come back and forth daily— and armed for their protection in their vehicles going and returning to work in either state. This is ridiculous and will NOT be enforced by locals certainly and maybe only by state troopers who have a need to advance their rank.
The Attorney General can be removed by the legislature if I’m not mistaken. And, the legislature can nullify the order by a simple voice vote.
Thanks. Well, I guess that’s one good thing about jumping through all the hoops to get an illinois permit.
I love Virginia. Lived there for many years and always enjoyed taking the boat and grandkids to Smith Mtn Lake in the summer. We’ll go elsewhere the next summer.
Most of the states will still accept the Virginia CCP. Here is how it shakes out today:
“The move also means several states will no longer recognize Virginiaâs concealed carry permits because they require mutual recognition of permits.”
“Those include Florida, Louisiana, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Wyoming.”
If you have a Utah CCW, you will be covered for North Dakota, Louisiana and Wyoming. Florida and Pennsylvania will only accept the Utah CCW if you are a resident of Utah.
South Carolina does not recognize the Utah CCW.
If you have the Virgina CCP, but are not a resident of Virginia, you have to check state by state to confirm validity. Maybe someone (NRA?) will get a summary posted.
FUVA!
