I am retired NJARNG and you can bet your savings account that is true - used to piss us enlisted's off to no end but very little we could do about it.
In regards to the yuks about the NG - I've trained with 10th Mountain and 42nd Infantry and am ok with it as those who know - know the National Guard has to meet the same standards as the regular Army today, with few exceptions.
My grandfather was national president of the 42nd Division Association. Don’t know if that group exists anymore. Both grandfathers and two uncles were National Guard on the Western Front in 1917-18.
My FIL had half his Guard platoon killed in Korea.
