FedEx problem was contracting with the freeking POST OFFICE for long haul ground freight and final deliveries. Hey FedEx, you got where you are today because people DON’T want to use the post office, and now you know the reason.
I know what you are saying, but FEDEX puts a lot of miles on a package. I live in Illinois.

Fed Ex rates would go up a lot if they didn’t contract with USPS.
Kind of basic business there.
You got it backwards -- FedEx has contracts to haul low-priority USPS mail, not the other way around, for about 10 years now. In fact this has brought USPS reliability and timely deliveries way up. FedEx would be insane to depend on the Post Office for delivery of FedEx packages.
