I’ve had a crow hit me in the shoulder while I was riding a motorcycle on the interstate at 75mph. It hurt for a while.
What’s really interesting is a friend of mine several years ago rode his Honda ST1100 motorcycle across the country to Arkansas from the PacNW. He didn’t like to wear his helmet, but kept a skidlid on the tank of his bike in front of him as he rode. If he saw a cop he would plop it on real quick.
In some state he was passing through with a helmet law a cop saw him without his helmet going the opposite direction. He popped his skidlid on real fast, but the cop turned around and stopped him anyway. The cop couldn’t figure out how or where the helmet came from, but my friend had it on.
The cop gave him a warning and said he should always wear it. When my friend asked ‘why’ the officer responded that a bird might hit him. After the officer let him go with that warning my friend was cruising down the road for a few miles and a bird hit his motorcycle square on into the head light. Fortunately, he had a a Lexan shield in front of it and that was the only damage done.
Did you know that birds have brought down more Israeli military aircraft then in all the wars that the Israeli have fought in combined Together? Apparently Israel is in a migratory pattern for birds.
