There are several top tier black actors.
They have been nominated, and have won awards.
Blacks make up 13% of the population, so statistically it would be fairly normal for them to skip two years from time to time, in terms of nominations and awards.
Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman, Cuba Gooding, Samuel Jackson, Forrest Whitaker, Jaime Foxx, Don Cheadle, Laurence Fishburn, Terrance Howard come to mind as those who have been nominated for best actor.
But I guess like everything, they expect quotas.
Maybe a separate category for best black performers. Then they can have winners every year.
Don’t they have the “BET Awards” for that?
something me and the racist Mr. Lee agree upon....boycotting the Oscars.
albeit for different reasons entirely. I find this leftist love fest where if you ring the marxist dinner bell, the salivating dogs of the academy will reward you with an award, self serving and bogus.
How about some good black actors? You do have Gooding,Jr and Denzel Washington. Are there no black philanthropists who’d finance a movie with all black actors? Why don’t black actors start their own Academy Awards ... they want the AW to roll over to accommodate blacks?

Spike is never happy about much of anything. First, he was mad about his old hood being gentrified as he’s living in a swanky apt in Manhattan with a view of Central Park as if he couldn’t have invested in his old neighborhood to clean it up. Now, he’s all bent out of shape over whitey taking over the Oscars. Hey, Spike, no one cares about Hollyweird or the awards it gives to itself.
I think of “Spike” as something with a collar and a leash.

Of course; the jerk had to get his Oscar by affirmative action, not by the merit of any movie he ever made or work he ever did. But he still mewls and moans, just like they all do.
And whining-don’t forget whining-it is what they do best...
Not all that interested in the Oscars, but now that the Black lives matter/Oscars so white hordes have sunk their fangs into this event, expect to see a lot of African American pandering to try and make up for the fact that they have (justifiably) nominated 0 blacks since this just wasn’t a year where blacks had standout roles.
And so what? Some years Forest Whitaker and Denzel win...and some years they don’t. It’s not racism.
They’ll have tons of AA presenters, I’m sure some lifetime achievement award to some unknown AA actors/actresses. Shots of white actors crying when those AA’s get their awards. Pandering top to bottom. Cram as many black faces on screen as we can as they fold up to the twitter diversity hordes

I completely support Spike Lee hoisting Hollywood with their own petard.
The same Spike Lee who is upset about gentrification, and about newcomers renovating bad areas not respecting the history of the ghetto. The same Spike Lee who criticizes white mommas pushing their strollers in these gentrified areas as if they own the place.
When are they going to have affirmative action for white guys on professional basketball teams?
I haven't watched the Oscars since... I don't know when. Does Billy Crystal still host the show?
The studios are businesses, and they like to make money. If making a bunch of minority-centric movies would bring in the big bucks, the studios would be falling all over each other to make those movies. Obviously, that’s not happening, because those movies don’t have high earning potential.
Now, a minority-focused comedy/drama that you can make with a small budget, like a Tyler Perry movie? That will turn a guaranteed profit, and the studios turn out plenty of those. They just won’t win many Oscars.
I don’t know, after seeing the list of movies nominated, I think Spike has a point, are they really any better than “Straight Outta Compton”?
