Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 97% has a theory as to why everyone is warming up to Donald Trump: Trump will make deals in Washington D.C. instead of fighting for conservatism.
Speaking to reporters after a campaign rally, Cruz said that the establishment was no longer looking to Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) 79% as their champion.
âWeâre seeing something remarkable happening in this Republican primary,â Cruz said, according to National Reviewâs Eliana Johnson. âRight now, the Washington establishment is abandoning Marco Rubio, theyâve made the assessment that Marco canât win this race, and the Washington establishment is rushing over to support Donald Trump. Weâre seeing that happen every day, and Mr. Trump is welcoming that support.â
Last night, Cruz made a similar argument in a recent interview, calling Trump part of the âWashington cartel.â
âThe cartel exists to make deals and to pick winners and losers through cronyism and corporate welfare,â Cruz said in an interview with BuzzFeedâs Rosie Gray. âAnd so itâs no surprise that more and more of the establishment is beginning to support Donald Trump. Because Donald has promised to make deals and to continue the cronyism and corporate welfare of Washington. Thatâs what the cartel does. They make deals with Democrats.â
Cruz said that Trump was more likely to make deals with Democrats to help get things done.
âDonald Trump said just yesterday that the problem with me is that I wouldnât go to Washington to make a deal and go along to get along with the Democrats,â Cruz said in the interview.

True dat. Welcome to Free Republic.
True dat. Welcome to Free Republic.
Hillary Clinton got money from Goldman Sachs.
Cruz’s wife works there and he got money from them.
Who exactly is the ‘establishment’?
Oh Ted, so sexy when you get upset.
Rule 695. A candidate’s spouse cannot be successful and work at a major financial firm.
And Trump got money from George Soros.
I thought Ted said everyone would flock to him.
Cruz is a hoot. Lord he is desperate. I am starting to feel sorry for him.
Trump 2016.
And Donald J. Trump got money from George Soros...
Well seeing as how Donald is out there literally saying the establishment is contacting him wanting to help his campaign... well, most people who aren’t totally sold out to Trump can fill in the blanks.
The Goldman Sachs smear has got to be about the lamest attack in history. Cruz simply got a margin loan from the bank where his investment account was. It was a loan against his own money - it about the least invasive form of loan that you can get. You don’t even have to have a loan officer sign off on it.
Yep- he’s so desperate that Trump pretty much said this exact thing.
I get that truth is often an unattractive thing when you have to completely sell out for a candidate who’s making every promise under the sun to get your vote. But it’s there nontheless.
Is this article about Trump? No it isn’t. It is about the Cruz Cult. So I discussed crazy Cruz. I will go to a Trump thread to discuss him. So I won once again.
Hey, Ted, tell us about your billionaire donors and what they expect from you. Jeb’s about the only one they’ve given more to than you and your PACs.
Cruz didn't say he got a margin loan from a bank. He said he liquidated his networth and spent his liquid savings. Cruz only liquidated a hundred or 200 thousand worth, then just got a loan and ended up increasing his savings and networth over the same time period a net 400,000.
Cruz wanted to create the false narrative that he was sacrificing all he had to be our senator, when, in truth, he just got a loan, which he hid from the FEC and only reported it on a financial disclosure form after his fight with Dewhurst was basically over... and even on that form, it didn't even say it was for his campaign. Here Cruz hides the truth from his followers through two layers, and it worked so well that no one called him on it until after he one his senate seat. How convenient.
Good things.
Yep, good things for the billionaires.
This by cruz in another lie. He lied to the FEC. He lied about being in the lead in Iowa, He lied about being eligible to be president. He is no damned good.
