Oh how sad - lots of scary stories from folks stuck on highways I bet
Oh my gosh - awful!
Jesus saves . . . Moses invests.
Recuperating today from a nasty cold and an unpleasant snow day on Friday. The rain we were supposed to get for several hours was sleet at 6am and then became heavy snow on the commute. Skidded in front of the hospital, trying to avoid slamming into the car in front of me at the light and went up onto the grass, up a hill. Took out a shrub and hyperventilated for a minute, then worried that brakes weren’t working. Waited over an hour for AAA, they never came, called back, said they were still looking for a provider. Walked the rest of the way to work, fell on the ice halfway there, then when they said we could leave an hour early, my car was dead. Still no AAA available so I took the cab ride from hell home. It took almost 72 hours before I could get my car jumped and drive it home. I read them the riot act today about my experience and they offered to cover my membership for next year since I just renewed this month. I came out ahead financially but next time the weather’s bad, I plan to call out and not even try to get there. Not worth it. I am grateful that the car and I were safe, along with everyone else around me on the road.
Never forget: When the weather is bad, it is worth less to go to work at $38 bucks an hour than the $500 deductible on your car. Unless your work will transport you there and back home.
You are exactly right.
Is it just me, or does the intra-GOP primary infighting here on FR seem substantially more vitriolic this year than ever — even way beyond the worst of the Rudybots and Romneybots from years past?
Yes, it is
horrible, horrible for you! we were out of town for the snow, in FL, where it was BARELY sunny and not very warm! in lieu of sitting in a hotel room in a barely sunny, chilly FL waiting for a flight TOMORROW PM, we decided to just drive it. came back and had to deal today with the aftermath of the storm. just got xsboy and his friend from Dulles, they had a fun weekend in Austin with another friend from elementary school. These are the guys he has been friends with since they were in K.
and i have no pups! the dog-walker kept the dogs for me and she cannot get out of her street to bring them home, bc it has not been plowed yet!
Oh no - I bet you miss them!
Funny how we keep those friends for so long, the ones we met as children.
