I had a homeless guy come up to me once in Ann Arbor: "hey, can you spare me some money? I was in Viet Nam."

So I asked him, what unit he was in . . . he couldn't answer. So I asked him, what part of Viet Nam he served in . . . he couldn't answer. So I told him, "before you pull that vet BS on somebody, get your story together." I gave him nothing.

I had one ask me for money. When I asked him what unit he was in he said, “The 583rd Airborne Division.” I almost gave him a buck for the creativity of his answer.
