Hilarious!
Interesting. Thanks for the post.
Cool. Was not aware of those lyrics.
Black Betty is actually a song about a flintlock rifle.
Someone told me that in post 14.
I did not know that.
Thanks for the ping.
A little late, but I’ll see what I can do.
“Black Betty”
Awesome tune that I was just listening to the other day.
“...............their sporting events, but was recently banned.............”
And then there’s Gary Glitter’s “Rock n Roll”
Something that was played at virtually every “ Sporting event” for soo many years.
If only the major riff.
Banned, not for the music but for the artists seriously messed up and illegal conduct.
We will know it’s the end when they begin to play that song again.
Black Betty - with a twist!
I put this together after the Baltimore riots.
Enjoy.

And also from the “Stones”
“Slave”
Likely to be banned by the title alone.
and this;
“Hey, why don’t you go down to the supermarket
Get something to eat, steal something off the shelves
Pass by the liquor store
Be back about quarter to twelve..

I've had an argument with a young black kid that thought the Cleveland Browns team name was racist.
For what it’s worth.
As I have been considering what songs have been or will likely be banned, it seems to cross party lines. But for reasons that make very little sense or display any consistency.
Some examples;
1. Sinead O’Conner, her crime was to tear a picture of the Pope on SNL. She was attempting to expose those that were protecting the pedophilia that was occurring in the Catholic Church. Virtually Banned.
2. Gary Glitter, as I mentioned earlier, had the most played song “Riff” (Rock n Roll, Hey) ever. A true and convicted pedophile. Completely Banned.
3. In film, there is Roman Polanski, a pedophile murderer that is still producing “Critically acclaimed” films. Not Banned.
The left thinks that it’s the Conservatives that want to ban speech and artistic expression. They forget the campaign by Tipper Gore.
I’ve got more.
Keep em coming Z!
It's side B for me.
I don't really know what is or was popular beyond the obvious songs. And I'm old.
"Maybe it's the Southern man, in this Simple Man, that keeps me searching for a Heart of Gold.
But, the times they are a changin, and ' you've got to Come Original and it's your Attitude that will determine if you're all mixed up, or just going the Wrong Way.
There was a time when Pop Music ridiculed the Words on a Mexican Radio to stay Comfortably Numb in their Lunatic Fringe.
But they are Living in the Past.
And who really listens to the lyrics on oldies stations anyway?
Awesome post. I’m kind of a B side guy myself.
Thanks.
BTW, if you have 3 minutes you should really watch this video.
Regina Spektor - “Us” (live at the White House)
Listen carefully to the lyrics.
She is singing about them and they don’t know it.
