Happy Texas Independence Day
My ancestors, fought in Texas Revaluation and later the Mexican war.
In the 50s this was always a special and revered day in school.
Wonder if its even mentioned now?
God does bless Texas.
Proud to be Texan!
I will be at the Alamo this weekend for the 180th reenactment. They me I will not make it out alive. But come April we get to win. I may be on the south wall. Thank you for the post!
Our State Stong
Texas, Our Texas
Texas, our Texas! All hail the mighty state!
Texas, our Texas! So wonderful, so great!
Boldest and grandest, withstanding every test;
O empire wide and glorious, you stand supremely blest.
God bless you, Texas! And keep you brave and strong.
That you may grow in power and worth, throughout the ages long.
Texas, O Texas! Your freeborn single star.
Sends out its radiance to nations near and far.
Emblem of freedom! It sets our hearts aglow.
With thoughts of San Jacinto and glorious Alamo.
God bless you, Texas! And keep you brave and strong.
That you may grow in power and worth, throughout the ages long.
Texas, dear Texas! From tyrant grip now free,
Shines forth in splendor your star of destiny!
Mother of heroes! We come your children true.
Proclaiming our allegiance, our faith, our love for you.

When the Federal Republican Constitution of their country, which they have sworn to support, no longer has a substantial existence, and the whole nature of their government has been forcibly changed, without their consent, from a restricted federative republic, composed of sovereign states, to a consolidated central military despotism, in which every interest is disregarded but that of the army and the priesthood, both the eternal enemies of civil liberty, the everready minions of power, and the usual instruments of tyrants.
Was this written yesterday? Mexico government or the US government. It should apply to both.
Thanks for sharing this important piece of our history.
