Largely because even though David Vitter's wife was able to forgive his moral failings, holier-than-thou "conservatives" in the state refused to vote for him, apparently preferring the leftard Edwards.
It should serve as a cautionary tale to those so-called conservatives who would rather see Hillary win than vote for Trump.
