National Defense IS a responsibility of the Government. I would rather have tax dollars spent on new weapon systems built by domestic manufacturers than all of the worthless social programs that produce NOTHING. These major weapons contractors aren’t going to start building toasters. They will vanish and this nation would become even more exposed.

Enforce a no-fly zone over Syria. Shoot down Russian aircraft. What do you think they’ll do about that? Shrug it off?
First, you’d have to see Putin’s reaction to U.S. establishment of a Syria no-fly zone.
Second, you’d have to believe that Putin is willing to go nuclear for the consequences of violating such a no-fly zone.
I don’t.
Would you really want to press the issue? Over Syria?

Sometimes doing nothing really is the right answer. We have zero interest in Syria. Starting a war with Russia over that dump is definitely NOT in our interests.
Your posts implied that you agreed with Christie's proposal to establish a no-fly zone to protect the Syrian rebels, or with Lindsey Graham (and Marco Rubio's) proposal to send US troops to fight alongside them.
Your Problem is that you extrapolate from the No Fly Zone, to the purpose and follow-up action.
