I’m not a lawyer and I can’t specifically state their case. But I bet a lawyer could. If nothing else, if the accusations are untrue, it would be holding these gals up to public ridicule. Come Thursday I am sure the latest Enquirer will be more specific, and possibly these unidentified ladies will be identified by then and face public scorn...I’m sure there may not be a case so far for Cruz to pursue, but betcha’ there is a case for these women if the allegations are untrue. I’m pretty sure the Enquirer knows who they are, and most likely have some sort of incriminating evidence, so I stick by my guns...they’ll be sweating bullets.

Guess you didn't read what I posted about actual malice and how even "winning" a libel suit can be more harmful than not suing. ("Malice aforethought" is an element of common-law murder, a crime. It has nothing to do with public-figure libel, a tort.) Silly me, wasting my time. Sorry that guy insulted you, but you aren't getting what I'm posting. I'm done. Enjoy your Trump and don't ever ping me again.

Oh, please. “Trump isn’t talking about the story”, except that his foul “Director of Social Media” is offering “proof” that the story is true....but he’s too stupid to understand a mirror image, and the “proof” is NOTHING.

One of the 5 is now on record saying she did have an affair with Cruz.

Billy Sol Estes was a real scoundrel. I doubt the half of what he and LBJ did is known.

At one point I lived in Dallas and did some minor work related to the fallout from the Hunt Brothers silver scam. During that time I heard a lot about Estes and H.L. Hunt and others. I never knew how to take the man relaying the stories. I was convinced he knew some significant people, but I wasn’t sure he knew what he thought he knew about them.

The Enquirer didn't make any claim, just reported what sources told them. True or not, there's no lawsuit there.

I have a hard time believing that. Playing devil's advocate, how do we know:

1) that the NE didn't embellish/fabricate the testimony of the women?

2) that the NE didn't make terrible errors in their reporting--i.e., they were grossly negligent?

It seems to me that you could sue if either of the above were true. And if Cruz is completely innocent, how does he know for sure that neither is true???

I believe the publishing of such an insinuation as this regarding Ted Cruz, in a presidential nominating race, raises to the level of malice aforethought if not true. And immediate filing would be quite successful, and there are thousands of lawyers who would rush to take the case.

I think you're right. I mean, if none of the affairs ever happened, then how on earth would you find 5 women who would accuse Cruz of infidelity? So if Cruz knows the story isn't true, he should assume the worst by the NE. I certainly would if I were in his shoes.

The older I get and the more I watch how people are elected today, I don’t doubt that LBJ had something to do with JFK’s assassination. I believe the power will do anything to remain in power.

I know LBJ cheated to win the senate. There was on “box” of votes that came in late that put him over the top. Every voter in the precinct voted in alphabetical order.

Happens all the time. As long as they don’t assert anything directly they don’t have to prove they said it or reveal who they are.

I knew some guys who went to prison in Arkansas for selling some farm equipment they didn’t own. That’s just one of the things Billy Sol Estes was guilty of.

I don’t remember the whole story. I know there were TV cameras allowed in the room and it was a circus.

Why is Cruz blaming Trump for the NE Story?

Heck, why is Fiorina blaming Trump instead of the NE?

There is NO Evidence that Trump had anything to do with it. Ted and Fiorina are using Innuendo while blaming Innuendo.

Listened to Levin today and he is using the same tact.
He is really disappointing me.

Go after the NE Ted. The more you try to blame this on Trump who has said nothing about the allegations except saying he hoped they weren’t true, the more you look guilty.

Hiding behind Fiorina’s skirt was some really bad Optics. Welcome to National Politics.

Carly fooled around, too, years ago with her now current husband who was previously married. I don’t know why she feels she has to speak on his behalf.

Carly’s campaign was given a lot of money from Cruz which some are saying is sex hush money involving one of Carly’s staff. Supposedly, the Feds are investigating this strange Cruz donation to an opponent.

Happens all the time.

Do you mean fabricating a story?

As long as they don’t assert anything directly they don’t have to prove they said it or reveal who they are.

But if they just make up testimony from phony witnesses, can't they be sued for slander?

Hiding behind Fiorina’s skirt was some really bad Optics.

Exactly. But was she actually wearing a skirt in the video?? :)

Concerning the NE story, there are basically only 2 realistic possibilities:

1) The story about Ted's affairs is all or mostly true.

2) It's a phony story with bogus witnesses, and the NE knows it.

There is a third possibility, but it's not realistic:

3) Five separate women somehow decided to accuse Ted falsely of adultery.

For #3 to be true, someone would have had to put them up to it. But who? There's no evidence that Trump (or anyone else for that matter) did so.

And if #2 is true, I think the NE could easily face a serious lawsuit. I also don't think they're that stupid to risk that.

Finally, given the way that Ted and his Mother Superior Carly evaded the question in the interview yesterday, it seems obvious that . . . DING DING DING . . . #1 is the winner!!! :)
