Looks like more rain headed for Central Missouri this evening. Overall, we need it, but I'd rather it held off until Monday so I can get some stuff done outdoors over the weekend. I'm taking #1 Marine Daughter Leah's quarter horse to the trainer tomorrow morning. He'll be there for at least a month. A lady is supposed to come out Sunday to look at my TWH mare for her daughter to use as a 4H horse. Another welfare eater leaving the property would make me happy.
Chervil in the cold frame is going absolutely nuts. We're eating salad every day and can't keep up with it.
The asparagus is also doing well. This was picked Wednesday evening.

Good looking an productive cold frame !!
What do you do with the skinny asparagus side shoots ?
Do you use them for flavoring soups and stews ?.. or do you have another use for them ?
Rabbs (wild leeks) and asparagus are a spring tonic around here !

The wife and inherited two big asparagus patches this spring. We cleaned out the weeds and composted them. For the last couple weeks we have been cutting asparagus like crazy. I have read to cut it for 6 or 7 weeks then compost again and cover with mulch. Then let it go to seed for next year.
Any other advice?
