. “I should also note that in Japan and Korea, forest therapy modalities are integrated into their medical system and are covered by insurance.” We need this for 0bamacare; for the children!

But last week we were told that living in cities, like rats in stacked cages was best?

Is “forest bathing” like Benjamin Franklin’s “air baths”? He would stand naked at his open window in the morning, calling cheerily to passersby ...

Wow! My kids know that the next thing I’m going to say after “Look at that beautiful tree” is “I’d love to cut it down. Just think what I could make out of it.”.

They better not do this bathing anywhere near a Japanese giant hornets’ nest.

Years ago (many, many) I was camping/back-packing in Newfoundland - after a few days thought it would be a good idea to grab my bar of Ivory soap and take a bath in a stream.
I wouldn't exactly call it refreshing. Took my "guy things" several days to return....

Forest Therapy Association of the Americas

.New holistic modalities and paradigm shifts, walking outside the box, finding your safe space in the comforting aura of Gaia....all this and more.......

.

excerpt from site:

A Natural Medicine

Humans have lived in nature for 5 million years and were made to exist in a natural environment. So in an urban area, humans become stressed due to noise, pollution and fast-paced activity.

Taking a walk in a forest, or “forest bathing” as it is sometimes called, can strengthen the immune system, lower stress and make people feel more at ease. It is standard preventative medicine in Japan.

It’s not about being alone in the wilderness or the extreme outdoors, it’s about allowing your body and psyche to be at peace in the woods.

Forest therapy comprises a forest and walking paths typically managed by local organizations. Visitors to some of the therapy bases and roads have the option of taking part in various health programs, including medical checkups, breathing and aromatherapy classes, and guided walks with experts on forests and health care. So far, 31 bases and four roads have gained such recognition in Asia.

The Forest Therapy Association of the Americas is in the process of developing sites in the US and Canada. We hope to include many sites, each with its own natural ecosystem, as part of our network of locations.

What is forest bathing? Hiking naked?

I suppose it could be but to me it looks like HIKING. The supposed difference is explained in the article:

Those that practice Shinrin-yoku explain that it differs from hiking or informative nature excursions because it centers on the therapeutic aspects of forest bathing. “So whereas a nature walk’s objective is to provide informational content and a hike’s is to reach a destination, a Shinrin-yoku walk’s objective is to give participants an opportunity to slow down, appreciate things that can only be seen or heard when one is moving slowly, and take a break from the stress of their daily lives,” Page said.

To me, however, hiking is not to "reach a destination". I do it for the exercise and for the "therapeutic aspects". So for me there is no difference.

OTOH, if it's Hiking Naked there might just be some difference ...

Would this include spending time in the garden? Can I bill my insurance company for my time pulling weeds? mowing? feeding the chickens?
OH, OH, OH, Don’t forget my time spend fishing? How much would be reasonable to bill my time for here? Based on the bill the doctor charged for spending 60 seconds looking at my wifes X-rays I think $8,000 an hour would be reasonable.
