The cops were out of control. It took a calmer National Guard to settle things down, but think what you want.

Amazing huh? I still carrry mucho disdain for them to this day.. Much like today’s moronials, they are ungrateful snots who should be kissing the ground every day that they weren’t born in some of the places we were lucky enough to see. You know, like that shitty area you were headed to. Thanks for your service.

I went home in mid 69’, and for the next several years I watched in horror (like most of us did) as the north kept taking more and more territory down to the delta’s.

I remember when Saigon fell, I was glued to the TV, and going through a serious drinking depression, and my anger kept bringing me back to wondering how many good people were going to be butchered there, and how I wished and prayed that if there was a God (this was my thinking at the time, and probably now as well), he would somehow make the damned hippies (Fonda and the like) change places with those folks trapped in VN, and let these ass-hats suffer what the regular folk were suffering in VN.

I was an engineer, and spent a lot of time in Saigon, and there were so many people that were going to, and did die for no good reason.

I still never forgot people like Fonda, and I’m sure you haven’t either, or any of the other commies that were supporting the VC.

If there were fairness in the world, every hippy liberal ass-hat would have to live under one of those regimes. They think they are oppressed because someone writes chalk on a sidewalk and offends their safe space?

Things like that can make me want to cry at the state of our nation.

But these are the same folks who think Islam is cool and America is bad. Same mentality. I wish they would all just be forced to go live under Islamic rule for a few years.

Sorry for the rant. I’m not very articulate when I get worked up.

Seems like “Sit down and shut up!” didn’t work to well. When I see folks today “touting” the anti-war movement and pics of those useless P’sOS burning their draft cards I still get a little cranked up.

In case my tagline didn’t show up:

“Enlisted in the Navy in ‘67 to protect folks rights to strip my rights. WTH?!”

P.S. My dad was on O-6 Navy officer and he swore me in. That was cool.

I hear ya man.

..and how awesome that would have been to have your dad there like that.

but... I still don’t know how any right minded person would WANT to be on boat!

On my initial trip over, we took the pacific boat ride, I had never been so sick as I was, even on glass like water, I get sick as a dog if I can’t see land. Funny, I can sit in a fishing boat, a LST, or whatever and I’m fine, but if I can’t see land, I’m incapacitated sick and paranoid ‘cuz there ain’t no where to run and get cover.

Anyone who could do that sort of duty has my utmost respect. (but I still razz the squids at my Legion Hall you can be sure of that! :) )
