Moral imbeciles should not make public policy.

But then, moral imbeciles should not be electing moral imbeciles into office. Somewhere in there lies the problem. You can’t expect government that is more moral than the people it represents. Decent citizens are the core of a republic. Once they are no longer in the majority, it isn’t long before they are pushed out of public life, badgered into silence, side-lined, marginalized, bred out of existence.

Politics rests upon a moral foundation. If that isn’t sound then that is the problem that must be addressed. In the Christian West you could once imagine that the culture embodied your values; in the post-Christian West they’ve got your kids and what are you going to do about it.

You need to rescue your family from the culture, and then rescue the culture by building a new one. This is a much tougher fight than just electing a president.

“Decent citizens are the core of a republic.”

Absolutely. We should not expect our government to rule our lives when we are insisting to be free to do so ourselves.

However, we have been so complacent and apathetic for too many generations. We have shirked our responsibilities, letting those who despise true morality instill into our children their atheistic ethics...which is no morality at all.

A huge battle is brewing and it will take divine intervention for us to come out on top, at this point. Too much has been given up.
