I would agree on the router too.
I had those kind of problems and a high speed router
fixed it. Then went to a hard line instead of wifi
and picked up some speed also.

Most definitely. I have a two story house and router placement was limited for me based on the cable run (unless I wanted to get crazy and start fishing cable through walls and ceilings). So of course I ran into throughput issues upstairs getting ~4Mbs at best on a 60Mbs connection. Until I bought this:

The Netgear Nighthawk AC1900. Sure it costs $180 bucks at Amazon. But for getting those upstairs throughput speeds up from 4Mbs to 40Mbs I'm happy.
