Ammon Bundy. the leader of the armed takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, has retained a new lawyer, J. Morgan Philpot, a former Utah state representative who born in Molalla, Oregon.

Late Wednesday, Eugene-based attorney Mike Arnold, who was retained by Bundy after his Jan. 26 arrest, filed a notice of "substitution of counsel," for Philpot.

"He is intimately familiar with land use issues central to the Malheur protest," Arnold said in a prepared statement.

A new defense lawyer for Ammon Bundy who I think is going to pursue some new angles in defense of the protest.

Mike Arnold and his law firm based on Oregon have come under assault with numerous bar complaints against them coming from assorted leftists in and out of government.

By the way there's been a shooting in Harney County that's stirred up a dust storm.

It isn't LaVoy's shooting but for those of us concerned about that, the incident involving the police chief of Portland shooting his buddy and the chief and his buddies covering it up while many of them 'smelled of alcohol' smells of police corruption.

Sheriff Dave Ward says there's no 'coverup' involved but there are plenty of questions on the table in the case.

Go to "Oregon Live" for the articles published in the last week which keep on raising more questions.

The Utah based lawyer is probably more insulated from the harassment.
