Eric Johnson on Acoustic Guitar? Simply amazing. This one is from 1984 before he became known as one of the greatest electric guitar players alive. I hope you enjoy it.

Eric Johnson, known mostly for his proficiency on electric guitar is quite an amazing fingerstyle acoustic guitar player. Here is an example from his early days.

My desert rose
Born are the few
Always with me
Vision of you

I first took notice with High Landrons. That album was huge.

Fingerstyle Acoustic Guitar Ping!

Eric Johnson in a concert from 1984. Eric is one of the greatest electric guitar players alive today. His name is often mentioned with Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. Here he is playing a Martin D45. Amazing stuff.

My personal favorite

A Tribute to Jerry Reed

First time I heard it, I thought, “Wow he must have really enjoyed ‘Smokey and the Bandit’”

Then I learned why he did dedicate it to Jerry Reed.

My personal favorite A Tribute to Jerry Reed

It was a toss up on which one of the two I was going to post.

I posted Song for Life.

The Tribute to Jerry Reed is technically impossible.

No human being can navigate a fretboard like that.

Saw him, Joe Satch and Yngwie in the 90s. Best day ever.

I keep hearing about guys like him and Bonamasa. They’re good, but then I listen to Zappa, Beck, Stevie Ray, DiMeola, and of course, this guy:

About the one guy I would put on the same level as Hendrix. Comes as close to the real thing as anyone.

His electric stuff ("the Avenue") is also amazing. Thanks for the link!

I've always said that Duane Allman was the best pure guitarist of all time. He doesn't have the same body of work as the other legends because he died so young, but that guy could play anything.

I think his reputation suffers because he made his mark as a studio guitarist playing for other artists, but that is part of his legend. Eric Clapton tells a story of hearing Allman play for the first time down at the Muscle Shoals studio. He told friends in the music industry that he had never heard anyone who could play like that, and made sure he signed up Duane Allman to lay the slide guitar tracks for the "Layla" album.

That one has a great outro solo. He opens up the fuzz face and lets out a few blasts of semi controlled feedback and then alternates between his signature melodic lines and more hendrixy stuff.
