“I’ve never seen it. “

Sorry but BTDT. Bathrooms are hard to find and we drank 100 beers at McSorleys.

Mardi Gras. New Orleans is full of people who drink too much and behave badly. I’m sure that it’s much nice the rest of the year.

Agreed. New York city has its bad areas, just like any other place. It also has some very special areas, with wonderful restaurants, theatres and parks. I haven't posted this in a while, but perhaps now is the time:
The Great State of New York
***
"New York is a state in the Northeastern region of the United States. New York is the 27th most extensive, the 3rd most populous, and the 7th most densely populated of the 50 United States. New York is bordered by New Jersey and Pennsylvania to the south, and by Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont to the east. The state has a maritime border with Rhode Island east of Long Island, as well as an international border with the Canadian provinces of Ontario to the west and north, and Quebec to the north. The state of New York is often referred to as New York State to distinguish it from New York City."

source: Wikipedia

"At night- the streets become rhythmical perspectives of glowing dotted lines, reflections hung upon them in the streets as the wistaria hangs its violet racemes on its trellis. The buildings are shimmering verticality, a gossamer veil, a festive scene-prop hanging there against the black sky to dazzle, entertain, amaze."
Frank Lloyd Wright

You know, I’ve been patient. But since you’ve claimed that New York is 500 years old, let me set you straight: New York is not 500 years old. Remember Columbus? He sailed the Ocean Blue several years before that in 1492. So while you might have a very delicate olfactory organ, your math and history skills stink.

New Orleans has a much more prominent odor than NYC has ever had. It’s not just the tourist district, there’s a pervasive smell of sewage and rot. It merely recedes a little when the weather isn’t hot in wintertime.

I once traveled to NYC for photo shoots several times a year. That black runoff on seemingly all the streets has an odor when it’s wet, like garbage that hasn’t been picked up for too long. It’s more noticeable in the summer with the heat and humidity, not so noticeable when the weather is cooler and drier. From fall color to spring, if there’s a breeze and it’s dry, there’s no particular, generalized odor there, in my experience. That’s saying something, for such a very large city.

You’re not being patient at all. You’re being needlessly and pointlessly confrontational over a stupid issue and making the whole thing personal for no good reason. That ain’t patience, that’s exactly the opposite.

At least part of New Orleans is below sea level, if I recall correctly. That may have a lot to do with the odor. Most cities will have certain odors, just because of having so many people together and perhaps because of having so much concrete and asphalt.

New York does not smell of pee. Many extended experiments with pee and concrete, and pee and tar, have been unable to
discover a way to make it soak into either.

It does soak into clothing though and smells bad when it does. Have you thought about that?

Some of that bottled water IS New York City water. (Not kidding. Won’t say which one.)

I hope this is a joke comment (which is not funny at all) because if it isn’t, you can put yourself in the same category you put Deblasio in.

Some people just hate everything. NYC is amazing, was just trying tonight to figure out how to finagle a long weekend there in the fall. So much to do and see and I’ve never smelled anything bad :)

“Why would the Mayor want more homeless in the city?”

Chaos and anarchy are tools used to bring down the system.

My Kristin Gillibrand Theory is a repeat of the Torricelli Switch.

In early September, when Hillary has been all but indicted, and is getting killed in the polls, the Democrats will come to the realization that they are going to lose hugh... I mean huge.

The Democrats are not in it to lose, so they will dump Hillary and choose a replacement for the last six weeks of the campaign. Now they could go with Biden, Warren, or Bernie, but each of them start with high negatives and have too much of a taint of Hillary, who will be toxic by this time. So they will pick an attractive, inoffensive non-entity.

That attractive inoffensive non-entity will be Senator Kristin Gillibrand of New York, and she will win.

Yes, I would come in fall or early winter (avoiding Christmas time). It’s a wonderful city, full of exciting things to do. Also, avoid Times Square unless going to the theater!

Soaks into dirt, soaks into wood, soaks into drywall, plenty of stuff for stink to soak into. And since NYC has had multiple effluvia crisis (one in the 70s even... regular trash that one, much better than the horse manure crisis of the 19th century) that caused the roads to be lines with refuse stack higher than a person in its long history, there’s been plenty of stink to soak in.
