If I recall much of the Iron Dome ammo costs around $40,000 for missiles. They do have other things similar to Phoenix Gatling guns. But the missiles they are shooting down are dirt cheap and unguided. (For the most part, unguided.) The system can be easily swamped. That is why they are working on lasers. But how often can a laser fire? The answer is to hit them on the ground before launch.

Yup, on the ground. If Israel has even the slightest inkling that missiles are being readied, they will wipe them...

A fiber laser is much easier to cool, and will continue as long as the pump diodes are happily fed.
