Does wireshark only monitor traffic, or can it also prevent traffic with specific ip addresses, too?

Oh go ahead! I am happily using a new computer Win7 I got last year! Have never heard from Windows or MS.
Guess that is because I never *activated* or registered.
Actually I didn’t know what those words meant until just now when I thought I would read what they were before posting this.
The first thing I did was shut off that auto update.
It only monitors. It is meant as a monitoring tool.
“The first thing I did was shut off that auto update.”
That would explain why you never got nagged by Microsoft to upgade to 10.
I’d like to have my automatic updates turned on, so that my Windows 7 operating system is kept up to date until 2020. I’ve only got another week level, and I can safely boot up the new computer without having to worry that it’ll be hijacked by Microsoft.
I went into control panel in Windows 10 and shut off all the data collection. Wicked easy!
How do you know it worked?
