All kidding aside, the current thinking on human evolution is way too simplistic. There may have been dozens of human species alive at any one time in the ages of prehistory and even some surviving until early historic periods. The would have been exploring, fighting, trading, and getting it on. There is a reason that every tradition of folklore worldwide talks about strange “others” like the European traditions of elves, ogres, trolls, giants, Titans, leprechauns, Seraphim, Nephalim, etc.
