Don’t think ‘questionable’ is really the word. It’s there really any question that this behavior is completely beyond the pale?

After numerous attempts to get me to upgrade to Windows 10, which I always refused, the upgrade icon finally disappeared from my task bar this morning.

I tried the Windows 10 download and after 6 days of trying to locate all of my previous files (which MS said would be there) and searching the net for corrections to the associated problems brought about by MS10, I went back to Windows 7. Upon going back to Windows 7 many of the programs that were there before were gone; smrfgdf for example. It was a total CF and a lot of time was wasted trying to get back to where I was prior to the upgrade. I am glad that July 29 has come and gone so I do not have to put up with the Windows 10 Upgrade pop-ups.

I really hope Microsoft winds up paying big for this. I personally had to rollback 2 machines which got auto upgraded.

How many lawsuite and bad press would they have faced if they had just walked away from Windows Vista, 7 and 8?

If folks are not smart enough to welcome a free upgrade to Windows 10 then there's just no hope for them.

Lawsuit happy nation.

Everyone is damaged and offended by everything, and the real kooks waste money looking for someone to compensate them.

I’ve upgraded two laptops and one desktop. I like 10.

What is all the fuss about?

Imho, always buy more memory than you think you can afford. Why? I bought the home computer 5 years ago, and Win 10 (that I was forced to upgrade to), runs slow.

I might have to buy a new computer, and if I do, I’ll run some version of Linux.

Hey Bill! Are you listening?

Yep, I notice that the nag icon has disappeared from my system tray. Good riddance.

10 has malfunctions which are very annoying and sometimes force hard shutdowns. Win7 doesn’t have these flaws. And so far we can’t see any big advantage win 10 has for the user. We are not converting to 10. And the co stent police are most annoying and insult the user’s Intelligence.

This is a side line to my pet peeve about how “mobile-friendly” website design has destroyed the desktop/laptop internet browsing experience, but the principle behind my complaint is the same:

A bunch of twenty-somethings is trying to force the rest of us to use “the latest and the greatest”, while violating an eternal and immutable principle of life:

“If it ain’t broke, dont fix it!!”

Now, if they want their “mobile” or “Windows 10” experience, I say - go for it!

*BUT*

Don’t be an EVIL little Socialist and try to force the rest of the world to use systems or software THAT WE DO NOT NEED!

- Windows 7 does everything relating to my business software very well. Microsoft 8, 8.1 did not, they were a disaster. Therefore, I never again want to risk a new operating system that I do not need and that may cause me headaches. Microsoft’s disrespect of this basic human desire (via the tactics described in this article) were beyond the pale. They should have to pay every single person who had to waste his or her time to reverse unwanted MS10 downloads a penalty.

- Ditto for the morons who have foisted “mobile friendly” websites on those of us who will never, ever use a “mobile” device to view the internet, and who LIKE to see more information on our screens. Just give me an option to have the old desktop viewing internet experience.

To them I simply woudl say this:

I don’t want to take away your “mobile” experience that you get through your “Idiot Phones”* (commentary on users, not the technology. If you are confused, take a look around the next time you are out on the street at what people around you are doing and it will all become clear), but ...

DON’T YOU TAKE AWAY MY DESKTOP INTERNET BROWSING EXPERIENCE!!!

The people driving endless (and often unwanted) tech innovation are like little Socialist bureaucrats, made even worse by their relative youth and resultant inexperience in life, not to mention their often complete disrespect of other people’s needs and views...

My sister tried to upgrade thursday. It got stuck at 99% for 9 hours. She restarted and it would not start up. Switched out keyboard so she could use the arrow keys as the other keyboard stopped working. Restarted and pressed F8 and started windows normally except it did this:
Recovering orphaned files

Once done it booted into Windows 7. She tried the update again and it got stuck again. After cancelling she tried a windows update and it turned her screen black..... fixed that by using F8. I emailed her some steps to do to clean out the windows 10 files and she will try again with a windows 10 cd she has.

These are known Windows 10 upgrade issues so GOOD LUCK!

Microsoft is facing two more lawsuits over the company’s questionable Windows 10 upgrade tactics. Both suits are seeking class-action status.

We need a U.S. Class action status for a Windows 10 rendering my newest PC desktop a brick. In January. After quite a few hours of troubleshooting, I managed to get it to boot, after losing many files AND ALL of my paid for installed software that worked perfectly in Windows 8.1, but not in Windows 10.

My only remaining reliable computer, a Win 7 machine, I unintentionally left in "hibernate" mode one night about 2 months ago and the next morning it was busy installing Windows 10. I bit the bullet and aborted the installation and about an hour later I had my Win 7 OS back, MINUS QUITE A FEW FILES AND PAID FOR SOFTWARE.

Where do I sign on to a class action suit? Windows "opt in" default for ANYTHING should be DECLARED illegal by legislation.

I may or may not be able to install Windows 10 for free once the Widows users complete Beta Testing, but if not, I DON'T CARE!

And so, the question still stands: why does Microsoft want to push us all onto Window 10? Is it because they want to spread advertising all over these computers, as some have suggested, or is it something more sinister? Perhaps Windows 10 contains code that makes all users a botnet for something that’s perhaps quite innocent, but could also could be quite sinister.
