Proclamation Defining Terms for Japanese Surrender Issued, at Potsdam, July 26, 1945

We-the President of the United States, the President of the National Government of the Republic of China, and the Prime Minister of Great Britain, representing the hundreds of millions of our countrymen, have conferred and agree that Japan shall be given an opportunity to end this war.

The prodigious land, sea and air forces of the United States, the British Empire and of China, many times reinforced by their armies and air fleets from the west, are poised to strike the final blows upon Japan. This military power is sustained and inspired by the determination of all the Allied Nations to prosecute the war against Japan until she ceases to resist.

The result of the futile and senseless German resistance to the might of the aroused free peoples of the world stands forth in awful clarity as an example to the people of Japan. The might that now converges on Japan is immeasurably greater than that which, when applied to the resisting Nazis, necessarily laid waste to the lands, the industry and the method of life of the whole German people. The full application of our military power, backed by our resolve, will mean the inevitable and complete destruction of the Japanese armed forces and just as inevitably the utter devastation of the Japanese homeland.

The time has come for Japan to decide whether she will continue to be controlled by those self-willed militaristic advisers whose unintelligent calculations have brought the Empire of Japan to the threshold of annihilation, or whether she will follow the path of reason.

Following are our terms. We will not deviate from them. There are no alternatives. We shall brook no delay. There must be eliminated for all time the authority and influence of those who have deceived and misled the people of Japan into embarking on world conquest, for we insist that a new order of peace, security and justice will be impossible until irresponsible militarism is driven from the world.

Until such a new order is established and until there is convincing proof that Japan's war-making power is destroyed, points in Japanese territory to be designated by the Allies shall be occupied to secure the achievement of the basic objectives we are here setting forth. The terms of the Cairo Declaration shall be carried out and Japanese sovereignty shall be limited to the islands of Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, Shikoku and such minor islands as we determine.

The Japanese military forces, after being completely disarmed, shall be permitted to return to their homes with the opportunity to lead peaceful and productive lives.

We do not intend that the Japanese shall be enslaved as a race or destroyed as a nation, but stern justice shall be meted out to all war criminals, including those who have visited cruelties upon our prisoners. The Japanese Government shall remove all obstacles to the revival and strengthening of democratic tendencies among the Japanese people. Freedom of speech, of religion, and of thought, as well as respect for the fundamental human rights shall be established.

Japan shall be permitted to maintain such industries as will sustain her economy and permit the exaction of just reparations in kind, but not those which would enable her to re-arm for war. To this end, access to, as distinguished from control of, raw materials shall be permitted. Eventual Japanese participation in world trade relations shall be permitted.

The occupying forces of the Allies shall be withdrawn from Japan as soon as these objectives have been accomplished and there has been established in accordance with the freely expressed will of the Japanese people a peacefully inclined and responsible government.

We call upon the government of Japan to proclaim now the unconditional surrender of all Japanese armed forces, and to provide proper and adequate assurances of their good faith in such action. The alternative for Japan is prompt and utter destruction.

(The Ministry of Foreign Affairs "Nihon Gaiko Nenpyo Narabini Shuyo Bunsho : 1840-1945" vol.2, 1966)

We once gave a murderous regime an ultimatum and we carried out that threat with the dropping of an atomic bomb ... two actually ... but we backed our threat with a military final solution.

ISIS and radical Islam is not going away ... ever ... unless someone does something drastic.

That someone should be France or Germany or England .... but they are castrated.

It's up to the USA to once again be a world leader,

We came out of WW2 BMOC ... the big dog ... whatever ... we were king in the 50's and respected and prospered.

It can happen again.

Let's roll.

Our love for Trump is just BECAUSE of the attitude that, "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore"

And unless we TRULY adopt that stance, we'll be as nutless as England, France and Germany

So that’s why Trump is asking “why can’t we use nukes?”.

Not all of us will be nutless, knarf, we are armed and angry.

We may called criminals before it is over.

The new mascot of the resistance will not be the wolverine but the Honey Badger.

I’m sorry but I have to agree with Molon Labbie. This really does not make sense. If you really want a discussion here you have to provide more than what you have. It may make sense to you, but us lesser thinkers do not see what you are driving at here.

The Potsdam Conference expelled the Germans from the Sudetenland.

Potsdam II should expel the Moslems from Europe.

ISIS etc. are scattered i.e., not your typical enemy/military....I agree they need to be eradicated...start with the Imams, the leaders....root them out and those who follow their orders...the rest should be history.

It's a whole different geopolitical world then what existed during WWII.

First and foremost, we are not the only possessors of WMD in the form of nuclear weapons. Our country along with France and England are no longer a majority of homogeneous people who think and share ideals. These countries have many among, many them who do not like the country in which they reside, and have no desire to fight for that country. In fact they are there to destroy them from within. Neither Russia not China are on our side, in fact they wish to displace us as the world leader. Lastly, the financial underpinnings of all are weak. Our infrastructures are all vulnerable to EMP attacks that would cripple us rendering us incapable of waging a defense or offense. But most importantly too many people refuse to even acknowledge the clear and present dangers & threats that exist.

So while a proclamation of such would be nice, it would be a hallow and meaningless gesture in the face of reality and spell nothing but disaster. While I agree that we cannot sit back and allow the takeover of the world by the Muslim world, we also cannot take them on by sheer might. We must first fight to remove them from within our mist and then work towards educating people as to the real dangers capitulation to them would mean to our people and freedoms that they enjoy. Capture their minds and their hearts and souls will follow,

“for we insist that a new order of peace, security and justice will be impossible until irresponsible militarism is driven from the world.”

Why does this phrase “New order” keep cropping up?

Was there some elite group pushing for world peace through a new world order?

(Sorry, but I find the term objectionable; especially after the war against Hitler’s “New Order” had just ended a few weeks before.)

When the Potsdam declaration was issued, the US Army had 130 divisions, the Red Army had 300, the US Navy had 2500 ships.

We are in no condition to be issuing ultimata to anybody.

What do you mean, "Can't allow"?

We ARE allowing it.
