Michael Phelps gave his baby son Boomer a kiss as he added two more Olympic gold medals to his record total on Tuesday night after leading Team USA to victory in the 4x200 freestyle relay less than an hour after defeating his arch nemesis Chad Le Clos.

Phelps made up for one of the rare losses in his brilliant career by seeing off rival Le Clos to win the men's 200m butterfly - and his twentieth Olympic gold medal, which he later admitted it was 'revenge' for 2012.

'There was so much emotion and so much build up for that race,' Phelps later said of the race. 'I don't want to say it's revenge, but that's what it was.'

The most decorated Olympian in history has apparently never forgiven the South African upstart for prizing away 'his' title in the event by five hundredths of a second in London 2012.

Michael Phelps is the first at the age of 31 years and 4 months to win an individual gold in an olympic event. Not only did he win a gold at his age, he won it in the 200 meter butterfly. His starts and turns seemed a bit off, but his core strength was amazing.

The 200 butterfly has to be the most demanding of olympic events. I know. I competed in butterfly at the Pan Am games when I was 16. He earned his place in olympic history.

I lost to the same person I lost to every year from the time I was 12 till I was 17. He was one suburb away from me. He got the gold and went on to the olympics.

Swimming times have radically improved over the past 30 years. I had the distinction of being the first to break a minute in long course. That is nothing today.

It is amazing to watch.
