Arkansas dad shares tale of Roomba-fueled 'Pooptastrophe'

LITTLE ROCK, Ark., An Arkansas dad shared the story of how his family learned a messy lesson: "Do not, under any circumstances, let your Roomba run over dog poop."

Jesse Newton of Little Rock said in a Facebook post his family's puppy, Evie, did her doggy doody in the living room after her human family members had gone to bed for the night.

Newton said his family's Roomba vacuum cleaner started its programmed 1:30 a.m. run through the house and ended up spreading, rather than cleaning, Evie's droppings around the house.

"And so begins the Pooptastrophe. The poohpocalypse. The pooppening," Newton wrote.

"If you have a Roomba, please rid yourself of all distractions and absorb everything I'm about to tell you. Do not, under any circumstances, let your Roomba run over dog poop. If the unthinkable does happen, and your Roomba runs over dog poop, stop it immediately and do not let it continue the cleaning cycle. Because if that happens, it will spread the dog poop over every conceivable surface within its reach, resulting in a home that closely resembles a Jackson Pollock poop painting.

It will be on your floorboards. It will be on your furniture legs. It will be on your carpets. It will be on your rugs. It will be on your kids' toy boxes. If it's near the floor, it will have poop on it. Those awesome wheels, which have a checkered surface for better traction, left 25-foot poop trails all over the house. Our lovable Roomba, who gets a careful cleaning every night, looked like it had been mudding. Yes, mudding - like what you do with a Jeep on a pipeline road. But in poop."

Newton said a bad situation turned worse when his 4-year-old got out of bed in the middle of the night and slogged through the poop trail before crawling into bed with his parents.

The Roomba failed to survive Newton's cleanup efforts, but he said the one bright spot in his poopy story was when Hammacher Schlemmer informed him the device was covered by a lifetime warranty and would be replaced.

My neato ran over cat poop. That was an unpleasant task.

LOL! This is perfect, my friends and I were just talking about Roombas, how they have them at Sam’s here. Here being Arkansas. I will take it as fair warning that this danger applies to cat poop as well. *chuckle*

I had a 'pooptastrophe' today. But a Roomba wasn't involved. The chicken Parmesan sub I had for dinner last night was.

Had five Roombas, all of their brush decks wore out.

Love my Neato!

Fart with a surprise! Avoid cheese. Humans were never meant to ingest something from a cow udder.

I now have one roomba and one neato. Roomba has a longer cycle but less suction than the Neato.

I have discussions every day with the old cat about this. Guess this house won’t be seeing a Roomba any time soon.

True story. When my son was not quite two years old, while I was busy with my infant daughter in another room, did his business in the middle of the living room. He then proceded to “vacuum” it up with his pushtoy.
My apartment smelled like a stable and to top it off, it was in January in St. Paul, Minnesota! With an outdoor temperature of -20 degrees! I all but threw hm into his crib, but he kept climbing out an d trying to get up into the rocker , saying,”Rock Mummy” And Hubby was out of the country on a six week business trip!
I called a friend in desperation who told me Warm water and vinegar. Warm water to clean it up and vinegar to reduce the odor.
