Guillain-Barré syndrome is associated with other viruses. The question is whether Zika is really more likely to cause Guillain-Barré than other viruses.

I do not think a clear relationship has been established for how viruses cause Guillain-Barré. I strongly suspect that it is due to similarities between viral proteins and nervous system proteins, similarities which can induce an autoimmune syndrome.

I agree that there is no causal relationship between Zkia and the incidence of Guillain-Barré ( temporary paralysis)
The mere fact that "In Venezuela, officials expected roughly 70 cases of Guillain-Barré from December 2015 to the end of March 2016,
as mosquitoes were spreading the virus. Instead, there were 684 cases."
How else can one explain this statistical anomolly of almost 700% increase of Guillain-Barré coinciding with Zika infestation ? (nutrition, chemicals, insecticides, water) ?
That is why the scientists are continuing to investigate,
I just heard on the radio news that monies for investigating Zika have been depleated; most unfortunate at this time when so much more should be learned.
