Five years isn’t enough IMHO-—what a dreadful thing to do.

I assume these are much more powerful than the little dollar one I bought my Grandson. Even that toy was surprisingly bright even at a distance.

I wonder if any have been caught yet? I would venture a guess, and say none.

The punishment for anyone caught shining a laser at an aircraft is a fine of up to $100,000, five years in prison, or both.

Live televised bloody floggings might be more of a deterrent. The hard part is catching one of these miscreants.

I disbelieve the stories of danger from people pointing lasers at airliners. If it is such a problem, why spend so much money on fighter planes for our military? Just arm them with laser pointers and blind the pilots of our enemies. I know, I know, the next poster will tell me that fighter jockeys have special equipment to protect themselves from laser pointers. To that I would say see. Give the special equipment to airline pilots.

Firing a laser endangers every one on the plane if the pilots are incapacitated. Five years is too short of a time. Let’s try ten and no parole.

Isn’t there some type of glasses they could wear? Mirrors on the outside? Just asking.
