White Supremacist Who Ran Over Black Teen Charged With Hate Crime

Russell Courtier, an ex-con with a long rap sheet and his girlfriend, Colleen Hunt, have been charged with murder for the hit-and-run that occurred in August. Larnell Malik Bruce Jr., 19, was hit and killed in the incident.

Speaking to reporters Multnomah County Deputy District Attorney Don Rees said that Courtier is linked to the white supremacist group European Kindred, which has been described by Southern Poverty Law Center as “one of the most feared white supremacist gangs in the Pacific Northwest.”

The victim, Larnell Malik Bruce Jr., was charging his cellphone at a Gresham 7-Eleven on August 10, just before midnight when the couple pulled up. Courtier was behind the wheel of his red Jeep Wrangler.

That is when the two men got into a verbal altercation. Police are still trying to determine exactly what happened but they say that the men did not previously know each other.

The verbal confrontation quickly turned physical with Courtier slamming the teens head into the glass storefront window, breaking it.

“Get him, baby,” Hunt called to her boyfriend during the fight, say witnesses. “Get him, baby!”

“Mr. Courtier said he was angry the male produced a knife and thought about driving away from the scene, however [he] made a conscious decision to drive his vehicle towards and chase the black male,” the document says. “Mr. Courtier said.

Apparently Mr Courtier did not attend law school.

I refuse to accept the concept of the "hate crime" and,if a juror in a trial including a "hate crime" charge I'd vote "not guilty".However in this case (as with any case) I'd look at the evidence and if it shows that bodily injury was deliberately inflicted without a good reason I'd vote guilty.

This sounds very much like Murder 1 to me...in which case, put 'em down!

The animals who murdered James Byrd got the needle, but that was in Texas. Oregon is a little soft on the death penalty. Too bad, this is some trash that really needs to be taken out.

Be admitted it was deliberate.

Murder should be enough to execute him. I don’t care if he murdered him because of his skin color or for his sneakers.

Be admitted it was deliberate.

Assuming you meant "he" then that settles it.I could care less whether they killed the guy because he was black or because they were just having a bad day...my attitude remains "put 'em down".

Is anyone surprised by this? What did people think was going to happen under Obama’s “post-racial” garbage?

The deceased was a “good kid” . . . who carried a machete.

“The animals who murdered James Byrd got the needle, but that was in Texas. Oregon is a little soft on the death penalty.”

I believe they only executed one of Byrd’s murderers.

This guy won’t be executed, but it appears he said he committed First Degree Murder.

They will give him life, not need to attach the hate crime.

“The deceased was a “good kid” . . . who carried a machete.”

Mr. Courtier will have plenty of time to contemplate that issue while he spends the rest of his life in prison.

From his Facebook page.

Machetes are clearly not protected by the constitution.

If they’re guilty, they’re guilty. However, the Southern Poverty Law Center needs to shut up and stay out of it. This far-left, money-making operation uses “hate crimes” to push its own agenda, that being to fatten up the bank account and support the lavish life style of one Morris Dees, a con man of the first order. Dees is as phony as they come.

What if the black guy incited him, fought with him (lost), pulled a MACHETE, and the guy had reason to believe he was going to attack the vehicle?

“What if the black guy incited him, fought with him (lost), pulled a MACHETE, and the guy had reason to believe he was going to attack the vehicle?”

If that is the case, he can take the stand at his murder trial and explain what happened, but he would get crushed on cross-examination.

While he is on the stand, he might have a bit of a problem telling the jury why he told the police that he was driving away, and then made the conscious decision to run over the victim.

head or window ?

Bruce has been described as “a good kid” who “had a hard life.”

That's a different take on it.

From another source:

Mines says her son was a kind young man caught up in addiction and life on the streets of East Burnside in Gresham.

His father, from a different source:

"We've been working on him trying to deal with his anger," Bruce Sr. said. "I was pretty proud that he decided to walk away."

I hate long red lights. If I accidentally ran one, would that be a hate moving violation?

They all look so unhappy, maybe just bored. Valjar sez obongo is bored cause he’s soo smart. Reason of the like for the Australian baseball man’s murderer’s excused reason, bored also. Is that legal? The two possessive plurals that is.
