He assaulted and battered a person. A battery is any willful and unlawful use of force or violence upon the person of another. In CAlifornia, a battery is punishable by a fine not exceeding two thousand dollars ($2,000), or by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding six months, or by both that fine and imprisonment.

I’m sure you noticed the “or.” I sincerely doubt the prosecutor will push for a jail term for a sitting mayor of the state capital. But he’s got some “dime” to pay to the state and unless he also wants court costs and attorney fees, a settlement with the victim.

KJ might need to be booked for assault, but I’m not sure how leftie he is. His wife, possibly only for political reasons, identified with Democrats and certain leftie causes, but was a crusader against the public teachers’ unions in DC, and a real promoter of education reform.

His office is officially non-partisan. He started out in politics by developing a charter school (St. HOPE), but is also very big into real-estate development.

Not being from Sacramento, I know little else, but from what I can tell, Trump might like him for the Dept of Ed. (I’m 99% joking about that.)
