I think they are fastidious about dosage, which is easily measured. And they won’t be ‘high’ until after the dosage. However, purity is an unknown and something that hasn’t been ‘stepped on’ as much as usual could lead to OD from the normal dosage.

True.

You can, unfortunately, never have 100 percent of many things in a free republic.

In order to have 100 percent safety for kids, in order to have 100 percent of the people above the poverty line, etc., one would have to give up all their liberties and rights.

And that just never works out.

Heartbreaking for the kids that fall through the cracks, but true.

I can'thelp wondering if you actually got a gun license, being a user at worst or living among users at best.

Problem is Family Services only comes in when you are a God fearing Christian family trying to do the right thing.

When you are a junkie living in a pig sty, or force your son to dress like a girl they do nothing.

Agreed. Politics is the art of the possible. And there is no way that a draconian system such as that in Singapore would ever be adopted in the US. So, given that we aren’t going to get downright medieval about enforcing drug prohibitions, probably the best bet is to look at the other side of the spectrum and some form of legalization. At least you reduce some of the social costs of addiction.

So what do you do with all of the folks who will be chronically unemployable?

But she and her siblings deserved better. Hopefully, they’ll find a good home.

EVERY new documentary that netflix adds bashes the church or shows something against it’s teaching in a positive light.

I dont know if I approve of aunt Millie hitting the boys with a wooden spoon (she didn’t hit me) but of the three, one is a CEO, one a Very Prominent lawyer, and one the Head of the visual communications dept at a major investment bank. They all love her very much.

Aunt Millie would be on the FRONT pages today if i filmed her with my cell phone.

no jobs?..why...no money?...why....my folks raised 6 kids on practically nothing and not one of us is a junkie or a drunk...

these past two generations are the weakest, wimpiest, quickest to be defeated that ever existed...

part of the reason is our govt throws money at 25 yrs all the time for bad knees or osteoarthritis...

they don't have to work and they get free food, health care, etc...

What rock would that be? I’ve never been a fan of the idiotic drug war or criminalization. It doesn’t work. And its extremely liberal to boot.

I don’t post much on the topic for the same reason I don’t post much on government schools: folks who call themselves conservatives just don’t like it when I point out that liberals love welfare, and government schools are just a form of welfare that isn’t means tested. People who call themselves conservative don’t seem to like it when you point out that by sending their kids to government schools, they’re acting as welfare queens.

Pretty much the same thing with drug prohibition. Illegalization and incarceration is just a very expensive form of welfare imposed on people who don’t want it. So we can feel all warm and fulfilled because we’re “doing something” about addiction. Now what we’re doing doesn’t work, probably exacerbates the problem, results in widespread official corruption, and costs a fortune, but by gosh we’ve “done something.” Seems oddly reminiscent of all those welfare programs that were supposed to end poverty. Maybe we should rename the war on drugs “Aid to Families with Dependent Lawyers, Judges, and Prison Guards?”

In any case, you’ll pardon me if I don’t wring my hands in liberal angst over that small portion of the population that is hell bent on poisoning itself. I don’t happen to like that they’re doing that, but I like it even less that I’m taxed to jail people to protect them from their own folly.

How do feel about people who drive on Interstates?

Welfare kings?

“Yup. Legal with known dosage might prevent these ODs.”

Yeah, I’m sure that will turn junkies into instant hard-working, responsible, non-dependent citizens. /s
