Goes to the US House of Representatives. Given the level of hate for Trump in the GOPE could enough GOP Congress critters side with the Dems to anoint Hillary?

Or if the House picks Trump, can you imagine the hysterics in the Media and in the streets from the habitually violent leftist fringe groups?

For god sake GET OUT AND VOTE so the election ends Nov 8th 2016

It goes to the House and if they have any survival instincts they won’t put illary in.

The Dems would just need to bribe or blackmail one Republican elector to take care of the tie. They shouldn’t have any problem coming up with one that was easy.

UN-Possible! If that did happen, the state of ‘tie’ would not last very long. We went through that back in 2000. This was when the parties got along together far better than now. And still, it was a full out power battle. People want this to be OVER and resolved on or near Election Day.

A tie is the best Hillary could hope for...there will be a bevy of recounts, then lawsuits, and finally the Obama SCOTUS, who will coronate Hillary.

They’re desperate, and will pull out all the stops.

The only cure - THE ONLY CURE - will be for Trump voters to turn out in such numbers there is no question about the results.

Then it goes to the house where the states get a single vote (each rep votes in their state caucus.)

Still tied? It goes to the senate.

Still tied? I decide. I select myself.

So, yeah. You don’t want that to happen.

Not as much of a nightmare as hillary winning outright. I don’t think the house would dare select clinton.

Nightmare? Nightmare for Rats certainly but not for the country. The Constitution provides nicely for just such a possibility...as the Rats know all too well.

Thus the use of the word "nightmare".

It doesn't have to be a tie, simply neither getting to 270.

By far, the most reasonable way this could happen, is if Johnson was to win New Mexico. He was governor of NM, but he's still polling 3rd, at about 20%.

I don't think Trump could win this state, without winning plenty of other states, so I thought it might be nice, if Trump could throw his support in NM to Johnson.

If Trump wins his must wins, OH,FL,NC,IA, and he wins NV, but loses the blue battle grounds, and CO, and NH. Then, Hillary would eak out a win with NM.

BUT, if Trump voters switch over to Johnson, then in the above situation, neither Hillary, or Trump have 270, so it goes to the house.

Remember, when it goes to the house, it's not every member has a vote - each state has a delegation, and each state has 1 vote. The Republicans would win easily. Map, congress by party

Odds are low, but there are plausible scenarios in which the election ends in a tie, 269 to 269. In such as case the House of Representatives chooses the President (from among the top 3), and the Senate chooses the V.P. (from among the top 2).

It happened before (with slightly different rules), with Jefferson and Burr finishing in a tie. The House took 36 votes over eleven day to choose Jefferson. On the first 35 votes, eight state delegates voted for Jefferson (when he needed nine states), six for Burr, and two were tied. Jefferson needed nine for election. On the 36th votes, upon the advise of Alexander Hamilton, several Congressmen changed their vote, and Jefferson was elected with the support of ten states.

The nation survived, although Hamilton did not.

If it were it end in a 269-269 tie, Trump would only need to flip one member of the Electoral College.

It will NEVER end in a tie or failure of one candidate to win. Even if the electoral map results show that result. One or more of the actual electors in the Electoral College will switch - and we all know that Mrs. Bill will not allow a defector, whatever it takes. The loyalty of Trumps slate of electors in every state he wins will be tested - every individual will be subjected to the worst kind of threats and abuse. They and their families will likely need protection and support. Mrs. Bill’s people are probably working overtime right now on finding a weak link. Hopefully Trump’s people are also vetting their slate to ensure their people are loyal and protected.

"...Could Trump-Clinton end in a tie?"

No. Not even close.

Trump 65%, Clinton 27%.

Massive, epochral super-mandate majority win for D.J. Trump. Deal with it.

Goes to the US House of Representatives

No, no, no, didn't you hear about Executive Order #345-14?

"In the case of an Electoral Tie, the deciding vote will reside with the President of the United States."

Just kidding but....

I’ve been saying this for a while.

A 269-269 tie would be a disaster for this country. No matter who ended up winning I firmly believe blood would be spilled over it.

In the case of a tie, the Constitution requires that the House choose the President. The House would probably choose neither Clinton nor Trump. Their only other Constitutional choices would be Johnson, Stein or Biden (the current Vice President is the default choice, if no candidate gets a majority of the State delegations.)
