also,

the first two years are either essentially free or very very cheap

(and some community colleges are better learning places than the lower divisions of some major universities)

after that, there are hundreds of perfectly good state-sponsored universities to finish the BA/BS. And at a good number of them, the MAJORITY of students receive some forms of financial aid too

$120,000 of debt is usually very unnecessary to incur.
just saying...

selecting a good major.....
selecting good and affordable colleges....
applying for financial aid (loans, grants, scholarships, work study opportunities)
and yes, a little part time job can help a lot, too
yes and yes, and the student can graduate without debt or t least without anything like $120,000 of debt!

are there some situations which may justify that kind of debt? yes. medical school, for instance. NOT a BA in Homosexual Literature of Fifteenth Century Krapistan

Did I say it wasn’t typical? It is rather typical of a kid who has to go to grad school right away and who is not inundated with scholarships, which, for any other non Hispanic kid out of Texas is typical

If good school at a university and a grad school is 120 which it is then what is regular undergrad. Any kid coming out of A &M has $60 grand These kids live with their parents are on parents cell phone plan and insurance what is that as a kind of thing to look forward to?

Community college is a good option it takes a lot of planning. Working during school is very ill advised even if 80% of the country disagrees with me. There’s time for studying tgen working. I work with a lot of girls who work go to school ‘take care of’ children and husbands. It is insanity

Go to school then work and pay it back to some degree tgen get married then have kids then tell the kids what to do to have a good life

One thing about tuition rates: parents in this country have allowed it to go out of control.
