If you just pay the fine, you can go without insurance. When something does happen to you, then you get coverage. After all they can’t turn you down for a preexisting condition, right?

Of course I’m being sarcastic (towards the ACA, not you), but I suspect that’s what a lot of people are doing.

I think you can only sign up for a couple of months during the enrollment period. If something big happens while you’re not covered you are at risk of losing your assets.
