No, this is not a hillbilly band from way out in the Appalachians, even though it sounds like one. The solo performance is by a very young Jo Stafford.

Thanks for posting this. I love this song. My wife is a professional jazz singer in a retro style, and she’s recorded it as part of a medley for her next album, at my suggestion. Coincidentally, I often say that Jo Stafford is the singer whose voice most reminds me of hers, because of her perfect pitch and her ability to hold notes much longer than most singers can. Too bad she’s not better remembered because she was a singer’s singer.
