I think the show was meant to be a spoof of James Bond, but as kids, we took it seriously, and then the Man from Uncle, itself, was spoofed in Get Smart.

There was a black and white episode I caught a few months ago that had a pre-Star Trek William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy.
