“What do we tell the children” in the face of a Trump.
Its very simple, stupid, for the first time try telling them the truth and throw away that participation trophy!
Tell them to fear the politicians who allowed this problem to fester for decades in hopes of taking over the American electoral system. Many are still serving; many are zealously pursuing higher office.

I agree 100%.
After 911 I was in line at the grocery store. This was in an upper middle class neighborhood in San Jose CA. In front of me was a Mom and her young daughter. There were all the tabloids there with pictures of the Towers. The daughter asked if they were going to blow us up too. The Mom said that the daughter did not have to worry because “We are special.”
I caught up with the Mom in the parking lot and told her she needed to tell her daughter the truth. I told her that properly done the daughter could handle it. About half way throught the conversation I realized that the woman acutally believed what she had said and SHE did not want to believe the truth. I was stunned and just walked away.
