The Democratic Underground went into the election last week absolutely confident in Hillary Clinton's victory. As we shall see they were even openly gloating about her winning the presidency before the election even happened. And then the Trumpocalypse shockwave hit them hard. Very hard. In fact, they went into such a deep state of grief that their website shut down. Here is their laughable official excuse:
As most of you probably know, Democratic Underground was vandalized by a hacker on election day, forcing us to take the site offline. We have spent the last week performing a security review of our software.
At this time the DU discussion forums are back online for Star Members only. We are taking this precaution because we want to make sure that we are only receiving legitimate traffic while we continue to test our software and the new security measures that have been put in place. This limited opening period should only last two or three days before we open up the site to everybody.
A Star Member is a DUer who pays a fee. They are currently the only ones allowed to view the website or post
If you would like to purchase a Star Membership, you must first get a new password and log in by following the instructions above. Then click here.
Right! Because when a website is hacked, the first thing you want to do is hand over to them your credit card information.
Although they seem to be in a financial bind due to being cut off from Clinton cash because of the election results (the wife of DU founder Skinner aka David Allen was a Clinton campaign treasurer), a nice gold nugget of comedy was served up just the day before the election. In fact in my dozen years of chronicling the foibles of the DUers at the DUmmie Funnies it could well be the funniest thing I have ever seen posted there. Despite their site being down supposedly due to be hacking and probably because in their grief they still can't face the world, someone at the Conservative Cave was able to discreetly hop over their pay wall to bring us this full gloat posting from the day before the election:

With A Hillary Win Looking Forward To Rubbing It In. Putting As Much Salt On The Wound As Possible
I simply will not be a gracious winner. I want to see these bastards as miserable as possible. I am so pissed that they would put a complete homicidal maniac in the White House.
Being put through such a horrible campaign has to have consequences. God knows what kind of shit we would be drug through should they win this thing.
Yes. The idea of being a gracious winner is something that completely escaped him. Unfortunately for him, karmatic kickback hit DUer TheMastersNemesis hard. What makes it even harder for him is that his premature gloat post shall live on for all eternity as among the funniest of all DU postings. And where is he today? A safe space in a diving bell at the bottom of the Marianas Trench?
I simply will not be a gracious winner. I want to see these bastards as miserable as possible.
said a liberal, the day before the 2016 Presidential election.
AAAAAnd...The lunatics are marching in every direction kicking and screaming and burning and pillaging in addition to kicking and screaming. They will soon run out of gas. It is not possible to maintain that level of kicking and screaming without a bathroom and an ice cream break.
As I keep saying the greatest thing about democrats is that they always sooner or later self-destruct.Witness the destruction as we type.
Of course, now their ridiculous fallback is “Hillary won the popular vote.”
The response to that should be, “she won CALIFORNIA’S popular vote; she lost America’s.”
Hahaha... Nothing like having to eat your own words. Hey, we’ve all had to at one time or another, but to do it on such a grand scale in front of so many of your peers then have your political enemies then get such joy from it, well, that’s karma baby!
On election night, DU got choked out and I was here reading the live thread trying to keep up with THOUSANDS of replies. The site worked perfectly. I read every reply too, eventually. Good work FR!
“We were hacked by Assange, give us money” type victim mentality.
Hillary won the popular vote.
Yet the left wants to think that putting Mr.Trump in office is dangerous lunacy. We crossed the Rubicon long ago.
Sounds like that was a post from Robbie Mook himself. Speaking of losers.
while I'm glad we won (we won for the moment) I think we need to keep our own "gloating" in check. Why? Because that works both ways for all people. I'm not a kick the guy while he's down. I'm a "hope they learned their lesson" even if it was the hard way type of guy...;)
Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
and yet they fail to see the damage the current CIC has done to the nation trying to transform it. Those rose colored glasses must be accompanies with a lot of marijuana too. People tend to think everything is going great when their own little world is in check and they have a good job with benefits but as soon as they lose that they get to meet the real world that Obama has created and it's not pretty. I got a taste and it's not pretty or white friendly due to the new world he's created. I'm good though. I know now that Trump is in office it will give real American's hope and that will change much including the economy so America can heal.
I voted for Carter in 1976. He was the last rat I ever voted for. There are probably tens of millions of others that did the same.
I think if we are patient we’ll see the same kind of metamorphosis occur as the trump team executes its plan.
Here they are discussing it all the way back in 2012 when it worked so well for them
Thank God we beat the homicidal maniac, now if we can just put her in prison...
They closed that landfill after Bush won in order to prevent members from posting comments that would get them arrested by the Secret Service.
I believe the same thing is happening again.
I think they shut it down because banned Bernie Sanders people were delivering “I told you so”s and Hillary funds (or funded at that time) the site. They could not identify which were their secondary accounts so they pulled the plug.
When people use the "she won the popular vote!" my answer is, "She won a game nobody was playing."
I remind them that Trump wasn't trying to win the popular vote. He was trying to win the electoral vote. If this were a popular vote contest, he'd be running a GOTV campaign in solidly red states, places he barely set foot in, while reaching out to GOP voters in solidly blue states who don't waste their time going to the polls on Election Day. Neither candidate would be scratching for 10-20,000 extra votes in places like Michigan.
It would've been an entirely different campaign. And if this were the game, Trump could have won that one too.
