Let the State of Jefferson separate first.
My dad (who wears his State of Jefferson sweatshirt often) would LOVE it!

Secession is going to happen, but it's not going to be initiated by Red States.

And it will likely work out as well as the last time they tried it in 1860.

4) The Ports of Portland and Seattle expand

Not necessarily.

If Northern California breaks off into the Conservative right to work state of Jefferson, then it's ports at Eureka would probably boom.

Companies would start to choose Eureka to avoid Portland & Seattle where the long shore unions are in control.

Another very long wall for Trump to build.

The parts of California who want nothing to do with this, will secede on their own or with US help.

Certain counties have already been talking about it for awhile.

Excellent point, ek_hornbeck. A huge portion of immigrants think they want to live in America for the benefits and KEEP the corrupt practices that made their home countries unbearable. I have argued this point with Muslims many times.
Let them vote, but U.S. California citizens only, no Soros or other outside money, and paper ballots bc computer voting is all hacked.
On the ballot, put the estimated costs: lost of welfare and medical benefits, loss of access to electric power, loss of defense, cost of creating a military, loss of water.

40 million people of CA have paid Federal taxes over the decades/centuries. It is theirs.

So how many need to die to keep a Naval base open? A Naval base that would be fine moved to Hawaii? Better liberty.

With the right ad campaign, support from media and entertainers, I could see the CA electorate voting yes for this. Hell they voted in mass for ammo background checks.

You can always stop paying the taxes and it go to tax sale. If they are totally worthless

Or you can look for the government or some sort of open space group to buy them as open space or park space.

Just a couple ideas

I think they are a net tax producer and the 7th largest economy in the world all by themselves.
I don’t know how much of that is smoke and mirrors (Kali government deficit spending), but that would still be a pretty big dent in the US economy - that and the loss of West Coast ports and naval bases.
Now if LA would just drop off into the ocean...

That’s why it won’t happen. If this is done, the Democrat Party is over because they cannot possibly win an election without California.

Good luck with that “secession” thing. Several of us tried
it in the 1800’s. Dead bodies (both Union & Rebel) lay
strewn all across the South. LINCOLN did WHATEVER IT TOOK
to keep our cotton-picking tax money in the union.

“Slavery” was on the way OUT anyway with the new inventions
that were in the offing. CALIFORNIA can go for my part in
it; but don’t try it while Emperor Obama is in power.

Sorry to disappoint my fellow FReepers, but it ain’t gonna happen.

As you alluded to in your comment, California is too dependent upon Federal funds. There is no way on God’s green earth it can sustain itself and all of the illegal aliens and welfare types without the billions upon billions of federal dollars pumped into its coffers.

Just a bunch of butthurt liberals throwing a tantrum. They will get tired of it soon enough and then go back to worshipping mother etc, illegal aliens, climate change or some other assinine cause.

Perhaps just the voting precincts that went Hillary should leave?
Are there any power plants in that area? food production areas? Will California print their own toilet paper money?

Businesses divest their biggest entity to raise money to rescue their other failing properties. In the same way, we tell California they are free to secede with America’s blessing but, oh, here’s our bill for the military bases, the national parks and air traffic control. Agree to pay this debt off in 10 years and we’ll consider you for trade partnership.

In the meantime, Oregon, Washington and Arizona get huge economic boosts by becoming larger Pacific ports and gateways to Hawaii and Asia.

The political benefits will be tremendous but so will the economic ones. California will become our dumping ground for all the illegals who want to flee Mexico and the weepy-hearted Calis can have their Sanctuary state with all the welfare benefits a Mexican could want.

Sports leagues would work out some agreement with California as we have with Canada.

Don’t be offended, Americans. See this as a business opportunity.
